In Pakistan, all the eight members of crew were killed when a Russian-made cargo plane crashed near a residential complex, seconds after taking off from Karachi airport in the wee hours of today. Seven people on the ground have been injured. Civil Aviation Authority spokesman Pervez George said, the aircraft, which came from the UAE and was en route to Sudanese capital Khartoum, crashed at 1:45 am local time. The plane slammed into buildings under construction in the Dalmai neighbourhood, where the Pakistan Air Force and Navy have residential apartments and offices close to Jinnah International airport. Karachi police Chief Fayyas Leghari said, the explosion caused by the crash was so powerful that local residents thought it was triggered by a bomb.
