Paikamal Maoist encounter: Orissa Human Rights Commission soughts report

The Orissa Human Rights Commission has sought a report on the alleged fake Maoist encounter by police at Paikamal in Bargarh district of Odisha. It has directed superintendent of police of Bargarh district to submit a detail report on the incident within two weeks. Security personnel had killed two persons on last tuesday suspecting their link with Maoists, even as their family members deny such allegations. While one victim Madhav Singh Thakur is president of Paikamal circle of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the other victim is reported to be a small businessman. Both of them were also members of the Gandhamardan Suraksha Parishad, a body fighting for preservation of Gandhamardan hills and its natural resources.The BJP has already demanded a CBI probe into the incident. It has also alleged that the police is trying to supress the people's voice against loot of Odisha's natural resources. Meanwhile, the BJP observed a one-day bandh in Paikamal today to protest against the fake Maoist encounter.
