Indian tennis stars Leander Paes, Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna began their US Open campaign on a sound note. They won their respective opening round matches at Flushing Meadows in New York.Bopanna kicked off India's day with 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-3 win with his Danish partner Frederik Nielsen over 16th seeds Radek Stepanek and Nenad Zimonjic in the first round men's doubles yesterday.Seventh seeds Sania Mirza and her Czech partner Barbora Strycova defeated unseeded American pairing of Jada Myii Hart and Ena Shibahara 6-2, 6-3 in a fairly comfortable fashion in women's doubles.Leander Paes and his mixed doubles partner Martina Hingis also had a light workout at the court. They secured a 6-3, 6-2 win against Americans Sachia Vickery and Frances Tiafoe.Meanwhile, French Open champion Garbine Muguruza and Wimbledon finalist Milos Raonic made shock exits in the second round of the US Open. Spanish third seed Muguruza lost 7-5 6-4 to Latvia's Anastasija Sevastova. Canada's Raonic, the fifth seed, struggled physically as American qualifier Ryan Harrison won 6-7 (4-7) 7-5 7-5 6-1. This is the first time that an American, has made it to the third round of a major tournament. Top seed Novak Djokovic reached round three without hitting a ball as Jiri Vesely withdrew before their match. Djokovic, who has been struggling with a wrist injury, gets three days off before facing Russia's Mikhail Youzhny on Friday.
