Paes-Hingis lift Australian Open mixed doubles title

Leander Peas and his Swiss teammate Martina Hingis today lifted the Mixed Doubles trophy of the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season. The seventh seeded pair defeated the higher placed Canadian-French team of Daniel Nestor and Kristina Mladenovic, in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.The Men's Singles final between world number one Novak Djokovic and sixth placed Andy Murray will be played in a short while from now.Serena Williams bagged the Women's Singles title for the sixth time yesterday. The world number one American had defeated second seeded Russian Maria Sharapova, 6-3, 7-6. It was Serena's 19th Grand Slam title. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Leander Peas on the Mixed Doubles victory with Martina Hingis at the Austaralian Open. In a Tweet message, he said, Paes continues to make India proud.
