Padma Shri transgender folk artiste Manjamma Jogati

International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8th of March.<br />”&nbsp;<br />”All India Radio News honors Women Achievers from diverse fields by bringing their stories.<br />”&nbsp;<br />”Manjamma Jogati was conferred with&nbsp; Padma Shri this year.<br />”&nbsp;<br />”She was the first trans woman chairperson of the Karnataka Janapada Academy.<br />”<b>&nbsp;</b><br />”Manjamma Jogati has been working for years to keep Jogati Nritya, Janpada Songs and other art form&nbsp;aloft.<br />”&nbsp;<br />”Jogati Nritya, Janpada Songs are practiced in Rural Karnataka, Maharashtra and other parts of Andhra Pradesh.<br />”&nbsp;<br />”She was awarded the Karnataka Janapada Academy award in 2006.<br />”&nbsp;<br />”In 2010 the government of Karnataka honoured her with the annual Kannada Rajyotsava Award.<br />”&nbsp;<br />”Talking to All India Radio News she sang the song which she used to sing while seeking alms.<br />”&nbsp;<br />”<span style="color: #222222;">She appealed to her community to learn and promote the art and culture of land.</span><br />
