Three persons from Manipur State have been selected for Padma Shri Award for their exceptional and distinguished services.<br />'' <br />'' Smt Lourembam Bino from Singjamei Mathak Thokchom Leikai has been awarded for art, Smt. Moirangthem Muktamani from Kakching Moirangthem Leikai in trade and industries and Shri Konsam Ibomcha from Kongba Nandeibam Leikai have been awarded in the art for this year's Padma Shri Awards.<br />'' <br />'' AIR Correspondent reports that Smt. Moirangthem Muktamani is well known in Manipur for making hand woolen shoes. She has been working in the field for a long time and her products are displayed in most of the exhibitions held in Manipur and outside. While Shri Konsam Ibomcha is a well-known doll maker in Manipur.<br />'' <br />'' Speaking to AIR News, Smt. Muktamani said that she started displaying her hand-woven woolen shoes in 1991. Due to poverty, I started making hand-woven woolen shoes for my children since I could not buy shoes for them from Market. Later on, these kinds of shoes are liked by many people and I started a small-scale industry on making hand-woven woolen shoes.
