Pact talks still on in Kerala as poll approaches

In Kerala, even as six days are left for issue of notification for next month's assembly election, major political parties are yet to announce final seat sharing arrangements and list of candidates. The Congress began a two-day meeting at Thiruvanathapuram from today to finalise the list of candidates. However, the United Democratic Front headed by the Congress is yet to finalise seat-sharing arrangements with other major parties in its fold. As far as CPIM led LDF is concerned, seat-sharing arrangements are likely to be completed soon. However, uncertainty about candidature of Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and CPIM state Secretary Pinarayi Vijan is continuing. The party Politburo is likely to step in next week if the final picture is not clear by that time. The BJP has already announced first list of forty candidates for the single phase polling in Kerala on 13th of next month.
