PAC terms Sibal's remarks over CAG as improper

Public Accounts Committee has termed Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal's remarks questioning CAG assessment of losses in 2G Spectrum allocation as improper.Speaking to reporters the PAC Chairman Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi said that the sense of the Committee was that this goes against the propriety of the Minister and it has hurt the prestige of CAG as well as the PAC.He said, the Committee wanted that it should be ensured that such a thing does not happen again. The issue of 2G spectrum allocation has been before the PAC since November, 2009.It may be recalled that Mr. Kapil Sibal had described as utterly erroneous the CAG figure of one lakh seventy 76 thousand crore rupees as losses to the exchequer in the allocation of 2G Spectrum in 2008.Mr. Joshi said that Mr. Sibal has not read the report properly as CAG has presented three models for assessing the losses and given the figures accordingly.
