Top seeded Indian shuttler PV Sindhu defeated eighth seed Beatriz Corrales and reached the women's singles semifinals of the India Open in New Delhi today. World number four Sindhu defeated her Spanish rival 21-12, 19-21, 21-11 in the quarterfinals. It took Sindhu 35 minutes to down her rival. Sindhu will next take on Thai third seed Ratchanok Intanon, who knocked out seventh seed Yip Pui Yin 21-11, 21-11 in her last-eight clash.In Mixed Doubles, Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy also advanced to the semifinals defeating Chinese pair of Han Chengkai and Cao Tong Wei 21-8, 21-13. B Sai Praneeth and Sameer Verma in Men's singles and pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy in Mixed doubles event lost their matches against Chinese Taipei Chou Tien Chen, Iskandar Zulkarnain of Malaysia and Indonesian pair of Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo respectively. In Women's doubles, pairs of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy, and J Meghana and Poorvisha S Ram crashed out of the tournament. Ashwini and Reddy lost to Du Yue and Li Yinhui of China 17-21, 21-23, while Thai pair of J Kititharakul and R Prajongjai defeated Meghana and Poorvisha 21-10, 21-15.Saina Nehwal in women's singles, and in Mixed doubles, pair of S Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa will play their matches later.
