National Commission for Scheduled Castes Chairman Dr P L Punia today said that he would write to the centre to increase the reservation for SCs to 16 per cent on the basis of proportion of their population. While talking to reporters in Raipur he said at present the quantum of reservation fixed for scheduled castes is 12 per cent. Dr Punia said he would write to the State Government to ensure that the funds under the special component plan were spent on those schemes that could benefit the targeted group.
