Senior Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram today rejected government's contention that UPA had left behind double digit inflation. In a tweet, Mr Chidambaram said, in June 2014, retail inflation stood at 6.77, and the Wholesale Price Index was 5.66. <br/><br/>Intervening in the price rise discussion in the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley yesterday said, NDA government had in 2014 inherited from UPA a double-digit inflation which has been brought down substantially and it would further reduce with good monsoon. Mr Jailtley's remarks came after Rahul Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging the government had failed to control prices.
