Oz test squad for 1st Ashes announced; Bailey makes it on back of good ODI form in India

Australia's squad for the first Ashes cricket test to be played in Brisbane has been announced. George Bailey, who led the Aussies in the recent tour to India, has made it to the Test squad for the first time. Bailey got the nod on the back of his remarkable one-day international form, which he showcased on the Indian soil. In-form paceman Mitchell Johnson has made a comeback to the 12-member squad, which will be led by Michael Clarke. Johnson will share the pace attack with Ryan Harris and Peter Siddle, in the absence of Mitchell Starc. All rounder James Faulkner has been included, with Nathan Lyon retaining his position as the lead spinner. Shane Watson has been chosen despite a hamstring injury.The squad is: Michael Clarke (captain), David Warner, Chris Rogers, Shane Watson, Steve Smith, George Bailey, Brad Haddin (wicket-keeper/vice captain), Mitchell Johnson, Peter Siddle, Ryan Harris, Nathan Lyon and James Faulkner.On the other hand, England do not appear as settled, with wicketkeeper Matt Prior struggling with a calf injury and batsman Kevin Pietersen recovering from a knee problem.Australia and England are scheduled to play 5 Tests, 5 ODIs and 3 Twenty-20 matches in this series.
