Overnight fog continues to affect normal life in North India

The cold wave continues in most parts in northern India as dense fog affected rail, road and air communication in the region. Fourteen people died overnight, taking the toll this winter to 535.All the fresh deaths occurred in Uttar Pradesh where 506 people have died so far due to the chill this winter.<br/><br/>Dense fog during the night and early morning continued to disrupt normal life in North India. The days are, however, sunny at most of the places.<br/><br/>In Delhi, about forty international and domestic flights have been affected. Visibility at the airport fell to about 125 metres. 107 trains were also delayed and 13 trains were rescheduled. Fifty-eight trains have either been cancelled or had short terminations. In Rajasthan, only Mount Abu is facing cold with temperature at four degree Celsius.<br/><br/>In Punjab, foggy weather conditions has led to attempts of smuggling of narcotics and fake Indian currency notes. AIR Jalandhar Correspondent quoting official sources says that five such attempts have been made in the current month so far and all the attempts have been thwarted by the Border Security Force.<br/><br/>In Jammu, people woke up to a fine weather this morning after witnessing dense fog for some days. There is no let up in the number of pilgrims visiting the holy shrine of Mata Vaishnodevi, with about 15 thousand pilgrims reaching a day.
