Overnight cyclonic storm has left a trail of destruction in several parts of Arunachal Pradesh with some persons receiving minor injuries. Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds lashed the state at around 9 last night and continued till around 3 Thursday morning. The gale blew away the tin sheets of more than 70 kuccha houses in several parts of the state. A number of houses have been completely flattened to the ground. The storm uprooted trees and caused extensive damage to power, telephone and cables lines. A report from AIR Itanagar Correspondent says, in the state capital, the worst affected locations were Six Kilo area, Dokum Colony and Raj Bhawan Campus. The uprooted trees blocked traffic at several locations in the morning. People were seen rebuilding their damaged houses. Several trees inside the Itanagar Raj Bhawan were also uprooted. The cyclonic storm hit Mebo Circle in East Siang district and caused extensive damages to dwelling houses, granaries and power transmission lines. So far there is no report of any casualty but reports from the districts are being awaited. Meanwhile, the Met Centre has predicted rain and thundershowers in the state during the next 24 hours.
