In West Bengal, overall flood situation has been marginally improved following improvement of weather. The State Irrigation Minister Dr. Manas Bhuiya told newsmen in Kolkata on sunday that the release of water from the Damodar Valley Corporation and Kansabati reservoir have also been reduced,though alert have been still enforce in Howrah, Hooghly and Burdwan districts as precautionary measure. Mr. Bhuiya said that 14 districts of the state have been affected due to continuous rains since last few days. The situation of Udainarayanpur and Amta in Howrah and Khanakul in Hooghly district are still critical. Our Kolkata correspondent reports that about 19 lakh people have been marooned. 170 relief camps and 214 medical camps have been opened in the affected areas. 15 persons died in rain related incidents so far.
