Over two lakh additional Base Transceiver Stations installed to address call drops problem

The Telecom Service Providers have installed over two lakh 12 thousand additional Base Transceiver Stations across the country to address the problem of call drops in mobile networks. <br/><br/>Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in a release said, Department of Telecommunications has taken various initiatives to address the problem of call drops. It said, to obtain direct feedback from subscribers, the Department had launched an Integrated Voice Response System (IVRS) system in Delhi, Mumbai, UP, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra and Goa on 23rd of December last year. <br/><br/>The Ministry said, since the launch of the IVRS system more than 16 lakh successful outbound calls have been made to subscribers of all Telecom Service Providers across the country. It said, about two lakh 21 thousand subscribers participated in the survey out of which, about 62.5 per cent subscribers have reported call drops. The survey was conducted by automated call service between 23rd of December last year and 28th of February this year to obtain direct feedback from subscribers.<br/><br/>The Department of Telecommunications said, from the feedback it has been observed that the problem of call drops is more severe indoors. It said, the feedback is shared with the Telecom Service Providers every week for taking action in a time bound manner. <br/><br/>The department said that on cumulative basis, since the launch of IVRS, nine thousand 328 cases have been resolved through this initiative.
