In Egypt over thousand people were injured following clashes between security forces and anti-government protesters at Tahrir Square on Wednesday. Assistant Health Minister Dr. Abdul Hamid Abaza said that 916 of them received medical treatment on the spot and 120 others were shifted to hospital. The angry demonstrators were protesting against the slow pace of prosecution of security officials responsible for deaths during the uprising against Hosni Mubark. Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf was quoted as saying that he ordered the police to withdraw from Tahrir Square to reduce tension.
