Over Rs 33 crore spent on International Yoga Day

The first International Day of Yoga in India and abroad this year achieved two Guinness World Records. These were in the categories of the Largest Yoga Lesson and participation of most nationalities in a Yoga lesson. Over Rs 33 crore was spent on promoting and conducting the International Yoga Day in Delhi and Indian Missions abroad. The objective of celebrating the International Day of Yoga was to universalize the practice and benefits of Yoga. <br/><br/>Minister for Ayurveda and Yoga, Mr. Shripad Yesso Naik stated this in the Rajya Sabha today. In a written reply, he informed the House that altogether 192 countries including India participated the first International Day of Yoga. The United Nations subsequently declared May 21 as the World Yoga Day.
