Over Rs 12 crore central financial assistance to Assam for setting up of new Polytechnics

The Centre will provide over 12 crore rupees financial assistance to Assam for setting up of new Polytechnics in 21 districts. This was stated by the Union Human Resource Development Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal in a letter written to the State Chief Minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi. Official sources today said the Centre has already selected Dhubri, Goalapara, Barpeta, Nalbari, Darrang, Morigaon, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Tinsukia, Sibsagar, Dima Hasao, Karimganj, Hailakandi, Udalguri, Chirrang, Baska, Kamrup Rural, Nagaon, Golaghat and Karbi Anglong districts for setting up of new Polytechnics as per request of the State Government. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Mr. Gogoi has directed the concerned department to take necessary action for allotment of land at free of cost and provide fund for hundred per cent recurring expenditure to facilitate early setting up of the proposed Polytechnics in those districts under the Coordinated Action for Skill Development scheme.
