Running a sustained audio-visual campaign to encourage people?, the three public sector oil companies have managed to convince over one million consumers across India to surrender their LPG subsidy?, says a senior official of a state oil company?. <br/><br/>Around 15.3 crore consumers are registered with the three companies, Indian Oil (Indane), Bharat Petroleum (Bharat Gas) and Hindustan Petroleum (HP Gas), which incur a total subsidy cost of? ?nearly? ?Rs 40,000 crore ?on providing 12 LPG cylinders per year to each ?domestic consumer. <br/><br/>Uttar Pradesh has also shown a keen interest in giving up the subsidy on LPG as it is the next after Maharashtra to join the 'Give Up' campaign said Indrajit Bose Executive Director of Indian oil while talking to AIR.? <br/> <br/>The state has about 1.82 crore registered LPG consumers where till 10th of August? 2015, ? 2,83,594 ?philanthropic ?consumers consented to give up the LPG subsidy. Maharashtra with ?one crore ninety three lakh consumers?, tops the list ?where three lakh twelve thousand consumers have so far chosen to say no to LPG subsidy.? <br/><br/>Prominently displayed billboard messages at every petrol pump? and sustained audio visual campaign have started showing the effect and more and more people are coming forward to say no to LPG subsidy.
