One lakh twenty five thousand people from India will go on Haj Pilgrimage this year under the government's subsidy scheme. An official press release issued after the meeting of the Union cabinet stated that pilgrims will be charged a subsidised fare of 16000 rupees each for the pilgrimage.
According to the cabinet's decision, 21 embarkation points have been selected for operation of Haj pilgrimage this year. The release stated that pacts have been signed with the Saudi Arabian Airlines and National Air Services of South Africa to carry Haj pilgrims.
Ministry of Civil Aviation is entrusted with the responsibility of making air travel arrangements for Haj pilgrims proceeding for Haj through the Haj Committee of India.
