Over one Lakh 20 thousand Health and Wellness Centres are functioning in the country under the Ayushman Bharat programme by the end of June this year. Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya informed this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today. He said, the government is supporting the States and Union Territories for transforming about one lakh 50 thousand Sub-Health Centres and rural and urban Primary Health Centres across the country as Ayushman Bharat – Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWCs) by the end of this year. The Minister said, the government is making all efforts to provide Comprehensive Primary Health Care including prevention and health promotion at the community level with the continuum of care.<br />'' <br />''Dr Mandaviya said, the government is committed for achieving preventive, curative, palliative and rehabilitative aspects of Universal Health Coverage to provide Comprehensive Primary Health Care. He further said, Ayushman Bharat – Health and Wellness Ambassador Initiative has been launched in which teachers in every school are Ambassadors to foster growth, development and educational achievement of school-going children by promoting their health and wellbeing. The Minister added that over 101 crore footfalls have been registered at the AB-HWCs across the country till the end of June this year. The screening was also done for over 21 crore for hypertension, over 17 crore for diabetes and over 11 crore for three types of cancers.
