Over eight lakh population still reeling under flood in Assam

Over eight lakh population of 15 districts are still reeling under flood in Assam. Surface communication and ferry surfaces disrupted in some districts. Talking to our Guwahati Correspondent, state Home Secretary G D Tripathi said that most of the rivers are maintaining a rising trend due to the additional water released by China. Sixteen teams of National Disaster Response Force, 60 army teams and 18 teams of State Disaster Response Force are undertaking relief and rescue work in a few districts of Upper Assam. Power failure in Dhemaji district paralysed normal life since this morning. Flood water also submerged Pandu area of Guwahati city. Surging water inundated villages in Marigaon, Rangia,Nalbari .Parts of Kazirnga National Park and Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary also submerged. Full alert has been sounded at Kaziranga National Park and strict vigil is being maintained.
