A major fire devastated over a dozen shops damaging property worth nearly one crore rupees at the main market area of Meghalaya’s East Garo Hills district headquarter town of Williamnagar. According to the Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi the fire was accidental and it began from a fire-cracker wholesaler shop and spread to the adjacent annexes in the Super Market area of the town last night. The fire lasted for over two hours. Some thirteen shops and three godowns with goods like clothes and consumer articles were burnt down completely. However, there was no human casualty or injury.
