<span style="color: #222222;">The Government has said that over 95 percent of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA payments have been generated within 15 days. Minister of State for Rural Development, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said this in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today. She said, any delay in payment of compensation beyond a period of fifteen days from the date it becomes payable. It shall be considered in the same manner as the delay in payment of wages.<br />''<br />''The Minister clarified that the State government shall pay the compensation upfront after due verification within the time limits as specified and recover the same from the functionaries or agencies which are responsible for the delayed payment. She said, the Ministry has taken various steps to ensure timely payment of wages to workers under the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA.</span><br />
