Over 80 people killed in twin blasts at university in Syria

In Syria, over 80 students are reported killed in two powerful blasts inside the Aleppo university campus yesterday. The toll may go up since many of the 150 injured are in critical condition. The Syrian Government said it was an act of terrorists while the opposition blamed it on air strikes by the regime.Our West Asia correspondent reports that the two powerful explosions left a vast trail of devastation at the Aleppo University campus with dead bodies strewn over and the rubble scattered around. The windows of dormitories in the University were blown out. It left more than a dozen cars near the dormitory in flames The Students and rescue workers combed the rubble, carrying away the injured. Syria's Official News Agency, SANA reported that the terrorist groups fired two missiles at the university on the first day of the mid-year exam period. It said that those killed were students and people who were staying at the university after being displaced by violence elsewhere. The opposition activists however claimed the Syrian air force carried out two airstrikes in which 83 people were killed. The twin blasts have once again exposed the raging violence in Syria which has claimed over 60,000 lives according to the UN estimates.
