In Andhra Pradesh, over 80 legislators including 11 State Ministers today tendered their resignations pressing for statehood for Telangana. The ruling congress legislators from Telangana region including Ministers sent their resignation papers to the Deputy Speaker Vikramarka this morning. So far, 11 Ministers and 26 MLAs of ruling Congress party have put in their papers while 12 MLCs also resigned. Thirty three legislators of the opposition Telugu Desam Party from the region have also resigned after their Congress counterparts tendered resignations. The en-mass resignations are still continuing with both ruling Congress and Opposition Telugu Desam party legislators sending their papers by hand and by fax to the office of the Deputy Speaker.
