The government on Friday said around over eight lakh animals have been vaccinated against Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in the country during the year 2022-23. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala said over three lakh animals were affected with LSD and around one lakh 85 thousand animals died during this period. He said although no permanent cure for LSD is known till date, vaccination appears as an effective option for prevention of LSD.<br />'' &nbsp; &nbsp;<br />''&nbsp;The Minister said advisories were issued to unaffected States for appropriate awareness and preparedness. Funds have also been provided to the affected States as per their demand. Recovery rate has improved thereafter, he informed.
