In Assam, over 79 percent voters exercised their franchise in six polling centers in three assembly segments for which repolling was held on Monday. The Election Commission had ordered repolls in these centers following reports of stray violence and electoral malpractices during the second phase of elections on 11th of this month.The additional Chief Electoral officer of the state Mukesh Shahoo said the repolling ended peacefully. The voting centers went to repolls include four booths in Rangiya and one each center at Bhawanipur and Udalguri assembly segments. A total of 981 candidates including 85 women have contested for the 126 seat member house in the state in the two phase polls held on 4th and 11th of this month. The counting of votes will be taken up on the 13th of next month.
