Over 70 MPs belonging to non-BJP and non-UPA parties today met President Pratibha Devisingh Patil at Rashtrapati Bhawan and presented a memorandum appealing her to advise the government to set-up JPC probe into the 2G spectrum scam. Later, talking to reporters, the CPI(M) leader, Sitaram Yechuri said the 2G spectrum is the biggest scam after independence. He said the losses caused to national exchequer could have been utilised to provide food grains to the needy at subsidised rates. Mr Yechuri also justified the Opposition demand for JPC probe saying that it will help in setting up of financial reforms. The MPs belonged to Left parties, AIADMK, JD(S) and TDP and others.
