Over 61% votes cast in Mat Assembly bye election in UP

In Uttar Pradesh, more than 61 per cent votes have been cast in Mat Assembly seat bye election in Mathura district. No untoward incident was reported from any party of the constituency. An official from Chief Electoral Office of the state told our Allahabad Correspondent that polling was totally peaceful. He said, in comparison of last Assembly election, about 10 per cent less electorate exercised their franchise in today's polling. Political fate of 14 candidates is now sealed in electronic voting machines. By election was held due to the resignation of Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Jayant Chaudhary. Counting of votes will take place on June 15.Meanwhile, the Election Commission has announced that the Bye election for Bahraich Local Authorities constituencies for Legislative Council will be held on July 9. Notification for the bye- election will be issued on June 15.
