In Andhra Pradesh, over 60 Legislators of the Congress and Telugu Desam Party, TDP, have tendered their resignations, pressing for their demand to carve out a Telengana State. Thirty-three TDP MLAs submitted their papers to the Office of the Assembly Speaker while 31 Congress Legislators have put in their papers so far. The en-masse resignations are continuing. The Congress MPs and Legislators, including the State Ministers, have earlier announced that they will resign from the seats to bring pressure on the Central Government to intiate the process of statehood for Telengana.
