The government today said, there has been a spurt in the progress made in rural sanitation since the launch of the Swachh Bharat Mission and over 58 lakh toilets were constructed in 2014-15.<br/><br/><br/> In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Drinking and Water Sanitation Ramesh Chandappa Jigajinagi said, it is an achievement of 117 per cent of the target. <br/><br/><br/>In 2015-16, over one lakh 27 thousand toilets were constructed. The minister said, 61 districts, 659 blocks and 52,562 gram panchayats have declared themselves Open Defecation Free as on 16th of this month.
