Over 55 percent polling was recorded in the third phase of assembly elections in Jharkhand, even as two jawans of Central Para Military Forces were killed in an encounter with maoists in post-poll violence. The incident occurred in Amara-Dova forest area under Shikaripara Police station of the Dumka district. According to Election Commission officials, stray incidents of violence were also reported from the Giridih district. In this phase, voting was being held in 11 of the remaining 41 constituencies. Altogether 239 candidates, including 115 Independents and 16 women are in the fray.<br/> <br/>Former Deputy Chief Minister Stephen Marandi (Congress), ex-ministers Nalin Soren (JMM), Samresh Singh (JVM-P), JMM President Shibu Soren's son Hemant Soren are among the prominent candidates whose fate was sealed in the EVMs. The fourth phase is scheduled on December 12 and the fifth and final round will be held on December 18. Results will be announced on December 23.<br/><br/>
