Over 52 per cent polling has been reported in the overall assembly elections in Bihar for 243 seats. Briefing media, the Chief Election Commissioner S. Y. Qureshi said that 52.43 votes were polled in all the six phases. He said that in today's sixth and final phase nearly 51 per cent votes were polled.Qureshi said that elections have been by and large very peaceful. He said that the incidents of violence in these elections were much less than in the previous elections. He said that only 25 incidents were reported in all the phases. In the last phase today, however, two persons were killed while defusing a bomb.He said that there was no report of any booth capturing during the polling. He said that because of the strict enforcement of model code of conduct and fresh guidelines in place on the monitoring of expenditure by political parties and candidates, the money power in this election was minimum.Women voters out numbered their male counterparts with nearly 55 per cent of them casting votes, 5 percent more than men voters.In reply to question about the counting on Wednesday Qureshi said that the process has been streamlined and independent observers will be deputed at the counting centres. EXIT POLL PREDICTS COMFORTABLE MAJORITY FOR NDADifferent exit polls have predicted comfortable majority for the ruling NDA in Bihar Assembly polls. AIR correspondent reports that the exit polls suggest further marginalization of the RJD-LJP combine.Exit polls say Congress will substantially increase its share of votes but the party will not be able to convert them into seats and will get same number of seats it bagged in last polls.The CNN- IBN -The Week gave 185 to 201 seats to NDA in 243 Bihar assembly. In this prediction RJD- LJP alliance got 22to 32 and congress 6 to 12 seats.The other exit polls, by AC Neilson for Star News gave the coalition 148 seats. RJD- LJP alliance got 68 and congress 14 seats. According to C VOTER prediction the ruling NDA got 142-154 and RJD -LJP alliance 59-71 seats and Congress 12-18 seats only.
