In Sri Lanka, over 50,000 families have been affected by floods following heavy rains, especially in the North and East provinces of the island. The sources from National Disaster Management Centre said that Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Ampara districts are the most affected.The Sri Lankan Authorities are gearing-up relief operation. Arrangements have been made to distribute dry rations and provide temporary accommodation to the flood victims. More than 200 families had to be shifted to safer locations by the authorities.The Meteorology Department predicted that rain will continue in the Eastern and Northern parts following the upper air disturbance.
