In Tamil Nadu, young voters account for a near 22 percent of the total population. The first time voters aged 18 to 19 constitute 2 and a half percent in the 5.93 crore voters in the state and the age group of 70 to 79 years constitute 4.95 percentage. In this election the maximum turn out of voters was recorded at Dharmapuri which is 71.2 percent.
Thirteen constituencies have recorded above 60 percent votes and another thirteen constituencies have recorded above 50 percent voter turn out till three pm. All the 39 constituencies have recorded more than fifty percent voter turn out.
When the chief electoral officer Praveen Kumar came to cast his vote at the Kilpauk booth, some voters gathered around him and argued that their names did not appear in the voters list.
Speaking to newspersons after casting his vote, he said for the past two days, flying squads had seized more than 52 crore rupees and in the last two days alone, 56 lakh rupees without documents were seized and 17 persons were arrested in connection with the incident.
