In Bihar over 44 thousand people with HIV have been reported this year.AIR Patna correspondent reports that an average of 24 people were reported with HIV everyday. The most worrying aspect is that mainly of these patients had no outside contacts.They were not migratory labourers and had they never stayed outside Bihar.Sources said blood obtained from sub standard banks might be primarily responsible for the alarming scenario in the state.The project Director of Bihar State AIDS Control Society Sanjeev Kumar Sinha told AIR that the society is taking efforts to arrest the progress of the cases.The National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) spends around rupees 22 crore every month in Bihar to contain the condition.
