Over 400 new schools will be set up in Uttar Pradesh and the present ones will be strengthened at a cost of 537 crore rupees. This will be taken up under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan Scheme. The annual plan proposal for the state for this year also includes payment of salary of 572 headmasters and 4000 teaching and non-teaching staff for 572 new schools sanctioned in 2009 and 2010. Officials in the HRD Ministry said the plan includes strengthening 233 existing secondary schools, building of additional classrooms, laboratory, library and water facility.The scheme proposes universalizing education at the secondary level between classes VIII and X and improving quality of teaching.
