Over 40% polling estimated in 4th phase of Jharkhand polls

Over Forty five percent polling has been recorded in today's fourth phase of Assembly elections in Jharkhand. The final voting percentage in the state is yet to officially announced later in the evening. Voting had begun on a peaceful note in all the 14 constituencies at seven this morning and ended at 3.00 P.m. No major incidents of violence have been reported during the polls.<br/><br/>In this phase, Over 24 and a half lakh strong electorate had exercised their franchise to decide the fate of 233 candidates in the fray from 14 seats. The Maoists, having a huge presence in all the constituencies, had given a call to boycott the polls. AIR correspondent reports that around 40,000 jawans and officers have been deployed to ensure free, fair and peaceful polling. Air surveillance in the poll-bound areas were on and adequate reserve strike force was in place to face any eventuality.
