Over 367 lakh hectare area has been covered under the cultivation of rice so far in various parts of the country. According to the data released by the Agriculture Ministry, the sown area is about 4 lakh hectare more than the total covered area for rice cultivation in the last weak. It said that pulses have been sown in over 101 lakh hectare area so far, while sugarcane has been cultivated in 53 lakh hectare and cotton has been sown in over 116 lakh hectare area.
