Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh today said over 366 lakh farmers have been covered under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana during the Kharif season this year. Briefing media on the initiatives taken by the Ministry in the past 30 months, Mr Singh said, the crop insurance scheme has been implemented in 21 states during Kharif season. <br/><br/>The Minister informed that a total of 2.33 crore soil samples have been collected from which 12.82 crore soil health cards are being made. He said 4.25 crore soil health cards have been distributed to the farmers so far. <br/><br/>Mr Singh expressed happiness that 250 mandis of ten states have been integrated with e-NAM (National Agriculture Market) portal. Over 9 lakh 49 thousand farmers and 59,742 traders have been registered on the e-NAM platform. He also said, an area of 12.74 lakh hectare has been brought under micro irrigation under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana during 2014-16 which is an increase of 200 percent as compared to 2013-14. <br/><br/>The Minister also informed that India has started exporting coconut oil to Malaysia, Indonesia and Sri Lanka from the beginning of this fiscal. Earlier, India used to import coconut oil from these countries.
