Over 31 thousand farmers across the country committed suicide over the last three years. A maximum of 9,500 suicidal deaths were reported from Maharashtra followed by 4,746 in Andhra Pradesh. Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh stated this in the Rajya Sabha today. <br/><br/>In a written reply, he said a large number of suicides by farmers was caused by agrarian distress between 2012 and 2014. According to the National Crime Record Bureau, the suicides were caused mainly by indebtedness, crop failure, drought, socio-economic and personal reasons.
