Over 300 companies of para-military forces for free & fair elections in Jharkhand

The centre today said that over 300 companies of para-military forces will be placed at the disposal of the Election Commission to ensure free and fair elections In Jharkhand. Calling on the voters to reject the call by the CPI Maoists to boycott the polls , the centre assued the voters in the state of full security saying that the people people will be able to exercise their democratic right freely and fearlessly .The Home Ministry said that despite the Maoist threat , over 57 percent of the voters in Jharkhand voted in the Parliament elections, strongly rejecting the Maoists call .The government said that Maoists are opposed to parliamentary democracy and the process of elections .While drawing attention of the voters to the Maoist agenda , the centre said those who believe in democracy and a republican form of government should ponder over the implications of the statements and threats held out by the Maoists in this regard.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, campaigning has begun by all the political parties for the five phased assembly elections beginning from the 25th of this month in Jharkhand.<br/><br/> The Congress struck an alliance with Jharkhand Vikas Morcha. On the other hand, the BJP and JD(U) agreed to continue their nine year old friendship in the state. But the ex-Chief Minister Shibu Soren's Jharkhand Mukti Morcha was forced to go all alone in this assembly poll. Whereas, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Lok Jan Shakti parties repeated their unbreakable alliance in Jharkhand also on the pattern of Bihar, along with other left parties. <br/><br/> 644 candidates have filed their nominations for 30 assembly seats for he first phase.
