The centre today said that over 300 companies of para-military forces will be placed at the disposal of the Election Commission to ensure free and fair elections In Jharkhand. Calling on the voters to reject the call by the CPI Maoists to boycott the polls , the centre assued the voters in the state of full security saying that the people people will be able to exercise their democratic right freely and fearlessly .The Home Ministry said that despite the Maoist threat , over 57 percent of the voters in Jharkhand voted in the Parliament elections, strongly rejecting the Maoists call .The government said that Maoists are opposed to parliamentary democracy and the process of elections .While drawing attention of the voters to the Maoist agenda , the centre said those who believe in democracy and a republican form of government should ponder over the implications of the statements and threats held out by the Maoists in this regard.
