Over 30 per cent drop in Indian students going to Australia

There has been a drop of over thirty per cent in the students going to Australia for higher and professional studies in the last two years. The Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, Arun Goel told reporters in New Delhi on Tuesday that as against 68 thousand students who went for studies to Australia in 2009 only 42,400 students went there in 2010. He added that this is not only due to some violent incidents there but also due to appreciating Australian Dollar. Mr. Goel elaborated that the Australian government took a series of measures to deal with the violence against Indian community in consultation with New Delhi.
