There has been more than 21 percent increase in power generation in the last three months.

This was stated by the Power and Coal Minister, Piyush Goyal at a press conference in New Delhi today.

He said, this improved generation has been possible by better utilization of domestic coal supply.

Reiterating the NDA government's commitment to provide 24X7 power to the people, he said, several new steps have been taken to achieve this objective.

Bureaucratic red tapism is being curtailed. He said, old plants with a capacity of 32 thousand megawatt is being modernized.

Steps are being taken to promote wind power and solar power in the country.

Local production of solar cells are being encouraged.

Environment clearances for the coal projects are being expedited and efforts are being made to improve the functioning of coal washeries and crusheries.
