Over 2,000 villages Submerged in Assam Floods, 11 lakh affected

In Assam, over 2,000 villages are submerged due to floods in the state. Several rivers are in spate. Nearly 11 lakh people are affected in the current wave of floods in 23 districts. Around five lakh people are submerged only at Barpeta district. The death toll due to floods has gone up to 28.<br />'' <br />''AIR correspondent reports that seventy-five thousand hectare of crop lands submerged in flood water. Twenty-three thousand displaced people are staying at government run relief camps. Administration is providing help to affected people including foods. <br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya is visiting the flood hit Pobitora wildlife sanctuary and Kaziranga national park. Around 50 per cent of the anti-poaching camps are inundated at Kaziranga while 27 wild animals have been rescued so far.</span><br />
