Over 20 per cent polling in three hours in Bihar

In Bihar, 15 to 22 percent electorates have so far excercised their right of franchise after three hours of voting for the ongoing fifth phase of assembly polls for 35 constituencies of the state .AIR Patna correspondent reports, long queues are seen at almost all polling booths even in naxal infested areas. In some booths electorates have boycotted polls in protest against non – implementation of development work in their areas. 45 persons have so far been arrested as preventive measures.Amidst elaborate security arrangements polling began 7 on Tuesday morning. It will continue up to 5 pm except 14 naxal affected constituencies where it will end at 3 pm. In Hilsa, Belaganj and Wazirganj constituencies polling will be concluded one hour before the scheduled time. Out of 9143 polling booths 5123 are sensitive. Over 81 lakh electorates will decide the political fortune of 490 candidates including 44 women. Political bigwigs whose fate will be sealed in EVMs include Ministers Prem Kumar, Harinarayan Singh, Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha and Jitan Ram Manjhi. The chief whip of ruling NDA Shravan Kumar is also in the fray.
