Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Sanjay Gandhi along with Minister of State of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Dr Mahesh Sharma and National Vice President of Bhartiya Janta Party Shyam Jaji today briefed the media persons regarding the achievements of NDA government on its completion of two years after holding a party workers meeting at Patiala.<br/><br/><br/>Talking to the media persons Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi urged the media to promote Mahila e-Haat (mahilaehatt-rmk.gov.in), an online initiative started by her Ministry to help the women sell their products sitting at home. She said already two lakh village women are associated with this campaign and being benefitted by selling their produce directly in the market. <br/><br/>She also said that soon one stop help centers will be established in all districts of Punjab which would help the women in distress. These centres will provide medical and psychological help to the women under one roof.<br/>Replying to question regarding the working of Anganwadi workers, Maneka Gandhi said that all States have been asked not to misuse the Anganwadi workers by making them do other work then their assigned work of providing nutrition to pregnant women and children. <br/><br/>She said for the first time in last 40 years, the Anganwadi workers are being recognized for their work and will be given promotions. She said that anganwadi centres will be provided with software-enabled tablet devices and mobile phones through which they would be able to record the nutrition supply given to the children and this way Ministry will be able to know the dietry intake of about 25 lakh children provided through Anganwadi workers. She also urged the farmers to stop using pesticides and promote organic farming and use the techniques which are healthy and natural.<br/><br/><br/>Dr Mahesh Sharma elaborated the initiatives taken by the NDA Government in last two years with major focus on the development work done in Punjab. He said that Punjab produces food for the country and its farmers and common man should be facilitated by the Government at all levels. He said that many initiatives were been taken to help farmers of the State, under Pradhanmantri Krishi Sichai Yojna 2674 hectare of land has been covered for irrigation, 751 post offices have been provided with banking facilities and 64,52,635 new accounts have been opened. He said that under Swach Bharat Abhiyaan 17000 toilets have been built and districts like Moga, Bathinda and Ludhiana were leading in this initiative. <br/><br/>Giving more details, he said that Bathinda will soon have AIIMS and medical colleges at Patiala and Amritsar have been renovated. He said that 20 000 families have been provided with LPG connections and Rs 401.06 crores have been spent on free medicines in Punjab till date. He emphasized on promoting tourism in the State and at Patiala in particular and said that soon regional air connectivity will be started in the country.
